On 5th February, 1916, 7th London of 140 Brigade, 47th Division, moved into the trenches in the Loos sector of the front line. The following morning, 6th February, a working party from the battalion was employed digging a trench on the left of these positions, to the rear of Harrison’s crater, when they were subjected to a 1½ hour bombardment by trench mortars and rifle grenades which caused considerable damage to the trench and resulted in the death of 2 men, one of them being Albert Parker. |
